If you’re wondering how this plugin even came about, here’s a word from Jean (who is also the founder of WP Mayor), more than 7 years after this journey began.

WP RSS Aggregator started off as my first serious attempt at learning how to build plugins. I built it to scratch my own itch; it allowed me to supplement my blog posts on WP Mayor with news from other sites. RSS had already been pronounced dead by then, however time seems to have proven the naysayers wrong as RSS feeds remain the best way to import content from other websites and platforms including YouTube, Twitter and Amazon. I’d like to thank all the people who encouraged me to release the plugin on the WordPress repository as well as the developers who came after me and really took the plugin to the next level by building excellent add-ons that have guaranteed the survival and growth of WP RSS Aggregator thus far. I’ve just finished building my latest aggregation website and I therefore remain a happy user myself and am really looking forward to the new features coming in the next few months.

I had been away from direct development on WP RSS Aggregator for a bit over 2 years after having been with the plugin from almost the beginning. To come back to it after all that time is a bit nostalgic but also very exciting. Both myself and our team have now grown in capability and ambition, and we’re finally taking the time to make improvements that some might say are long overdue. But I’m certain that what we have in store will exceed expectations! We’re improving the plugin’s performance, making it more robust, giving it a much needed facelift, and under the hood I am personally refactoring away the legacy code in preparation for WP RSS Aggregator 5.0!
