WordCamp Europe 2016 Aims to Get 2200 WordPressers in Vienna for the biggest WordPress Event to Date

I’m super stoked to be attending WordCamp Europe, in fact I haven’t missed one so far. The event has been growing in numbers year on year and this year looks like it’s going to be another record breaking one. The WordCamp Europe team is releasing 400 more tickets WordCamp Europe after securing three additional halls in Leopold Museum and the Baroque suites in the MuseumsQuartier in Vienna, Austria.

Automattic has Purchased a Majority Stake in Pressable

Automattic has purchased a majority stake in Pressable, one of the earliest managed WordPress hosting companies, founded in 2010. They were first known as ZippyKid, and rebranded in 2013. Automattic was already a shareholder in Pressable, most recently as the primary investor of a $1.5 million round in April of 2015.

WordPress Global Translation Day Set for April 24, 2016

The WordPress Polyglots team is planning its first ever Global Translation Day to be held April 24, 2016, in every timezone around the globe. The 24-hour translation sprint will start at dawn in the East and end in the West. In addition to translating strings, organizers are also looking to grow the translation teams and educate new translators.

Hacked Sites Suffer Long Term Search Ranking Penalties

During our research into what the WordPress community knows about hacked websites, we discovered that there is very little data available on the subject. We decided to conduct a survey, inviting a portion of our community to participate. We received responses from 1,605 people who reported having a website they manage hacked in the last year. We learned a lot. Thank you to everyone who participated!
