WP Mayor is widely respected as a trusted source for in-depth product and service reviews, tutorials, and other articles about WordPress and related tech.
Originally launched more than a decade ago, the website was revamped in late 2020 to celebrate our 10-year anniversary.
As part of our plans for 2022 and beyond, we’ve opened up an opportunity for a talented Editorial Manager who loves WordPress to become part of our dedicated team and help grow this successful site even further.
Who you are
You are an avid and experienced WordPress user and are very familiar with plugins, themes, hosting, and WordPress-centred services. You have previous experience as an editor, content writer or a similar role, and have a passion to continue learning and expanding your skill-set.
As the main point of contact for writers and other team members, you are able to communicate effectively, providing and accepting critical feedback in a professional manner.
You understand the importance of SEO and how to address it through written content. You know how to research keywords and search intent and are able to use your findings to create and edit factual and coherent articles without keyword stuffing.
Ideally, you’ve previously written about WordPress and have run a WordPress site or blog. On top of that, you have a good eye for typos and good sentence structure to make sure all published content is as clear as can be.
You have a desire to be involved in more than just content management. From strategy work to performance analysis and revenue growth, you’re constantly looking for ways to analyse and improve WP Mayor through data-driven decisions.
You’re fluent in both written and spoken English to be able to communicate with fellow team members and partners via chat, email, audio calls and video calls.
Most importantly, you want to be a long-term critical member of a dedicated remote team, you love to take the initiative and work autonomously, and take pride in the quality of your work.

Who we are and how we work
We’re a fully remote team of individuals with different backgrounds and life stories that work together on a daily basis to deliver the best guides, tutorials and reviews that we possibly can. In this role, you will be working directly with Gaby and Mark, our Project Operations Manager and CEO respectively.
We currently operate WP Mayor as a core team of two with experienced freelance writers and expert consultants. We’ve been self-funded since day one, starting out as a small personal blog and growing into one of the top WordPress blogs in the world.
Aside from running WP Mayor, we also develop and support the original and most popular RSS importer plugin for WordPress – WP RSS Aggregator and the ever-growing Instagram feed plugin – Spotlight.
Everyone on our team is given equal opportunity and has an open communication channel with everyone else. Whether you want to discuss something you’re struggling with or chat over a coffee or glass of wine, we always make time for each other.
Communication is key to running a successful business, which is why we use asynchronous communication tools in our day-to-day operations. Software such as Twist and Notion enable everyone on the team to focus on their work without fear of being distracted at any moment, but when the time comes for a one-on-one or team discussion, we’re all there together and on time.
By working with WP Mayor, you have the opportunity to be part of the history of one of the original and most well-respected WordPress blogs that reaches millions of readers around the world. WP Mayor has been around for over 10 years and we’re looking forward to what the next 10 have in store for us!
What we offer
We believe in giving every team member the same perks as everyone else, whether you’re a full-time employee, part-time contractor or just a freelancer we meet along the way. Here’s what we offer.
Work wherever you want
We mean it. Whether you’re in your apartment or somewhere on a beach, so long as you get the work done and deliver high-quality results, you can do it from wherever you want. All we ask is that you have a fast internet connection and be available for video calls or chats whenever they’re needed.
Work in your preferred timezone
Although you may need to be around for a team call here and there, most of the time you’ll be able to work asynchronously at any time you want. If you’re a night owl, go for it. If you’re more of a morning person, that works. Whether you’re in Europe, Asia or somewhere else around the world, we make timezones work for us by making sure that we can all be flexible and show up when it’s needed.
Attend conferences and events
Whether it’s online or in-person, you have the opportunity to attend conferences and events to represent WP Mayor. Be it WordCamp Europe, a local meetup or some other conference, we support our team and encourage everyone to get involved within the community and create new connections throughout the year.
Try your hand at podcasting
We run the WP Mayor podcast where we get to interview various people within the WordPress space and outside it. Everyone on our team has the chance to be a guest host from time to time, joining Gaby and/or Mark to try their hand at podcasting and interviewing some of the most interesting people you could meet.
Always strive to learn more
Working alongside Gaby and Mark, you will not only learn from them but they’ll also be looking to learn a thing or two from you. If there’s something that you don’t know how to do, we’ll help you to learn and apply it in your work. Having developed many great relationships with experts in and outside of WordPress, you’ll be able to learn from some of the best people in SEO, affiliate marketing, content management, and much more.
How to apply
If you’ve read through this post and think you’re right for the role, we’d love to hear from you! Fill in the application form below to get started.
While we will do our best to reply to all applications, we typically receive a lot of interest for a role such as this one and we might not manage to respond to each and every submission we receive. If we feel that you’d be a good addition to our team, we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
