EDD Bookings is the appointment bookings add-on for Easy Digital Downloads.
Around twenty months ago, I began researching the idea of taking the existing EDD Bookings a step further.
Today, I can safely say that we have taken it many steps further.
The feature-set is not very different after all this time, but under the hood, it is a completely different beast.
In the all-new version of EDD Bookings, we focused on maintainability and potential future growth, creating the plugin and its design in a way that allows us to expand exponentially in the future.
It’s been a long road, and at times we admittedly struggled to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Today, we can see the light shining bright right in front of us!
Alpha Testing
This new version underwent many alpha versions before it got here. Throughout that internal testing phase, we found new bugs, came up with a few better ideas and even stumbled upon some cool, unexpected surprises.

This was all down to the work our team put in throughout the past months to build the plugin in a modular fashion, focused on the user experience.
We will be publishing a few articles in the coming months that will explain this in some detail, focusing on the development practices used, the ones not used, and why we took those decisions.
Beta1
It is a very exciting day for us to see this new plugin come to life and be used by others.
We have shared this Beta version publicly on our website along with some guidelines.

Before you try it out though, please note that this is only a Beta, and as such, we cannot guarantee that something won’t break or go wrong. That is why we strongly recommend testing the plugin on a local, staging or another development site, not a live website.
What’s Next?
The development has not stopped. The team is still going, finishing off a few things, fixing minor bugs as they are caught along the way, and awaiting user feedback.

Plans are in place for the development to continue in the coming months. We have plenty of cool, new features to include as well as a few handy integrations.
